Colorado City Photos

Colorado City's Second City Hall, Jail, and Fire Station, Circa 1895. Was on the north east corner of Cucharras and West 26th Street. The 'First' City Hall was 3 blocks north on Colorado Avenue. Problem was that after the Cripple Creek Gold Rush brought the Midland Railroad and 21 Saloons, it was too far from Saloon Row to drag the drunks to the Drunk Tank. So the City Fathers had to abandon the first well built building, and build this one, right in the middle of Saloon Row, and the Red Light District. It was across the street from the most infamous Brothels - Laura Belle's and Mamie Majors.
