Crystal Park Motor Coach, August 29, 1910. In order to get such long
'touring cars' up the steep switchbacked climb to Crystal Park where semiprecious
gem stones abounded, and where John Hay, Lincoln's Secretary of State wrote
his 'Abraham Lincoln' biography while in a cabin in the high park, the car had
to go out on a 'turntable' at a bad switchback. It was not able to turn in such
a tight radius on the steep roadway. Then the passengers had to get out and
rotate the turntable so that the car pointed up the next climb.
