Manitou House
In the first State Business Directory (1879), the Manitou House is listed, with C. W. Barker as proprietor. (he later built the Barker House on Manitou Avenue) By 1884 A. W. Bailey was the proprietor. In 1886 he was joined in partnership by G. M. Walker. In 1887 Bailey and Walker were proprietors of both the Manitou House and the Mansions Hotel, but the listing for 1890 an 1892 says A. W. Bailey is the proprietor of both establishments.
The listing for 1894 states that George M. Walker is now the proprietor of both hotels, and there is no listing for A. W. Bailey in Manitou, Colorado City, of Colorado Springs.
