Colorado City Photos

Corner of 27th and West Colorado Avenue, north side. On right, 2432, is the original Waycott Opera House. In 1980 it was sold for $50,000 and the first floor was turned into "Meadow Muffins" an original bar, restaurant, dance floor, with $250,000 in original antiques hanging from Ceiling. In 2002, the building was sold and remodled for $2.3 million, and the second floor was turned into three $300,000 each office condominiums, and the 3d floor was turned into four $375,000 Residential Lofts. Balconies were added. Meadow Muffins is still on the first floor.

On the left, 2502 West Colorado, is the Templeton Building, with retail shops on the first floor, front and sides, and modern offices - with rich red brick interior walls, on the 2d and 3d floors. In 1976 there was only one business in the building, a Natural Food Story on the corner paying $150 a month rent. The building was aquired in 1977 for $75,000. It sold in 2003 for $2.2 million. Rents now range from $300 to $650 a month.

The first floors in present Old Colorado City are generally retail stores. The second floors are generally service businesses, from commodity brokers, and travel agents to lawyers. The third floors tend to be small high tech businesses, such as Web and Graphic designers, communications companies, and artists.
