Illustration of the Tappan's Mercantile in Colorado City. (today's 2802. This building appears in the earliest photo of Colorado City, also) One of the first four buildings built on "developers corner" today's 28th and West Colorado Avenue. First place the El Paso County Commisioners met, November 16th, 1861. North 28th street up Camp Creek was the earliest road to Denver. Tappan and Company is still in business in Denver.
