Frank M. Cobb

Information Compiled by LaDonna Gunn

As a member of the Lawrence, Kansas, prospecting party, Frank M. Cobb reached the Pike's Peak region in July 1858. While camping near the present location of Old Colorado City, Cobb and others from his party gave "Camp" Creek its name. Cobb, John D. Miller and August Voorhees ascended Pike's Peak on July 8, 1858, erroneously believing they were the first to reach the summit.
